“We have decided to step up and run for Readington Township Committee because Readington is at a crossroads,” Routel and Kowal said in a joint statement. “Our area is at an inflection point: local small business owners are facing economic headwinds, and our township is receiving extreme development pressure from state-mandated affordable housing obligations. Readington needs strong leadership to address these concerns, and we are the team who can navigate these challenges.”
In order to preserve Readington’s rural character and prevent negative impacts to quality of life, Routel and Kowal vehemently reject mega developments and/or city centers in order to satisfy our affordable housing obligations. Mega developments overburden the existing infrastructure, increase traffic significantly in concentrated areas, and drive up local taxes with increased municipal services.
